My go-to procrastination chores are dishes and cleaning off my desk. Maybe dusting the office. Funny how I only notice the dust when it's time to write!
Another book I recommend for fighting that tendency: The War of Art.
Loved every word. I, too, have reader narcolepsy. I, too, do everything else before sitting down to write. I, too, have a house that is always immaculate. Oops, no I don't. Got carried away. But seriously, thanks for the inspiration!
lol! Thank you Cherie! Thrilled to know there's another write out there who falls asleep when reading - makes it so hard to finish all theses darn books I have lying around! 😂
Definitely can relate. Now that I have my writing a bit more focused…it’s my yoga cert. that I keep avoiding. It’s something just for me. It’s raised questions in me…why don’t I want to make time for this? I love yoga and learning about its philosophy. I will def check out this book. Thanks!
Definitely check out the book, it’s by Steven Pressfield. And that’s awesome you’re going for your yoga cert, I love that! And I hate that we put the things that are just for us on hold - it’s so common for moms to do that. I just took out from the library - hopefully I’ll actually read it 🤣🤞🏻- a book called Four Thousand Weeks - Time Management for Mortals, I think I may have heard about it from Tim Ferriss, and the title speaks to how the average lifespan is roughly four thousand weeks, and that alone has sparked something inside me to reach for more. We can do it, we can figure this out and do the things that matter to us that are just for us! You got this!! ❤️
She really is a magician!! I can’t recommend this book enough! And this one is only a six week “workbook” as opposed to the 12-week Artists Way - more digestible for procrastinators like me!

Julia Cameron is a magician that unlocks creativity, that’s for sure!!
Loved this piece, I’m so glad you wrote it.
Ok, gotta dust off my copy of “The Artist’s Way” 💕
