Hi there, I’m Anne Marie! (AM for short.)
If you're reading this, I already know something about you: you're finally done taking care of everybody else's shit and you're thinking, WAIT, when is it MY turn?? When do I get to disappear for a weekend of "golf"? When does someone else fold the laundry? When can I tell my kids, "Hey, I love you, but another three-hour game in the freezing rain I cannot endure"??
I see you. And you've found your home.
This space exists because I discovered something revolutionary: no matter what age you're gloriously rocking, no matter how much guilt you carry in your Louis Vuitton stuffed with snacks, no matter how much of a matyre you think your are by sacrificing your own goodwill for others, none of it fully fulfills you. Busyness only distracts.
It's time to care less about how others see you and to no longer live your life hellbent on living up to others’ expectations because it's the very thing holding you back from embracing your magnificent self, recognizing your inherent worth, and understanding that you're more precious than any blue diamond ever unearthed.
I'm here to be your friendly reminder. To nudge you, guide you, share with you my experiences to help you begin to live a life that’s more focused on you - because when you take care of yourself, you’re better equipped to deal with everyone else!
This is just the beginning of what promises to be a long, wonderful, and deliciously wild adventure—if you're brave enough to join me.
It’s never a straight line
Aging Fiercely means there’s always a fire in the belly to grow, dream bigger, and finally decide that YOU matter most in your life, and it’s time to put yourself FIRST on that long to-do list!
It took me a long time to get to this point, and it wasn’t easy! I’ve done a lot of growing over the years, and becoming who I am now has meant growing from being a bartender, to an accountant, to a graphic designer, to a personal trainer, and now, a writer and podcaster. Whew…
It all kinda happened like this:
In my first life, I was an accountant, but then I realized I disliked numbers—and beige cubicles—so I started bartending to pay the bills, and then…
… I pulled a 180˚ and became a graphic designer—naturally. But the beige cubicle did me in on that one too, so…
… for my third reinvention, I became a personal trainer and found myself a) no longer tied to a beige cubicle and b) doing work that allowed me to help women achieve real goals that made their lives better, and made them feel good about themselves—and therefore I was IMMEDIATELY HOOKED!
And I’m now taking all the experience and knowledge I’ve gained from 15+ years of working with some amazing women, and I’m sharing stories, lessons learned, my big-time face-plants, and all the emotions between the thoughts of “I’m not good enough” to “I can’t believe I was able to do that!”
The point is to never stop aging fiercely!
My hope is that this space will shine like a beacon of well-being light to those searching for your not-so-typical well-being advice. (Because mainstream advice puts me to sleep.)
While my writing does tend to veer towards self-depricating humor, it also helps to ease the pressure we put on ourselves when it comes to taking control of our thoughts—and becoming aware of how those thoughts create our experiences—because we sometimes tend to take it all too seriously and as my mom always told me, “Anne Marie, don’t take it all so seriously.”
Best advice I ever received.
So here we are, just a couple of bold and sassy B’s ready to work on becoming fiercely aging mamas who create magical moonbeams of change in our lives because we know… there’s more to life than laundry. (We are NOT here for the laundry!)
