A Pebble-Sized Shift in Momentum

It had me thinking, "what else can I do?"

A pebble-sized shift in momentum for me is going for a run when:

a) I dislike running even though the running joke in my family is “I’m the runner of the family”, since I took the title “Fastest girl runner” from 2nd grade to 5th grade—a title I lost in 6th grade by one brutal second,

and b) I haven’t run in over four years unless goaded by my kids to race them to the end of the street.

(And what makes me the runner of the family even more ridiculous is that my sister ran, I think, five marathons, and two of her children can run a 5-something minute mile. Feats I have never conquered!)

All that to say: I did something the other morning because I knew I needed a change after admitting to myself that yes, I may be acting a little “lazy”, so I followed through on an impulse, which happened to occur on one of the hottest days of the year thus far.

Listen in as I share with you what one small impulsive move can do for your mindset.

As imperfectly as possible, I’m also following another impulse in creating a series of audios I’m branding as The Aging Fiercely Radio Show — an exclusive Substack offering of 10-minute (or so) “radio shows” that share my knowledge and gained wisdom on how to create and maintain active lifestyles that slow the aging process — which is nothing more than feeling strong in your body as opposed to sedentary, sluggish, and uninspired.

I recorded this episode last week, when school was still in session, so bear with me as I’m still piecing together this fun experiment. I believe these episodes are going to be helpful for those of us who realize that “wanting” to change is a lot different than “doing” the change, and the simple mental shifts that can inspire us when we follow through on sometimes seemingly absurd impulses.

This is about “doing” something different, and the small shift in momentum it can create almost instantaneously. (Often we’re so close to creating breakthroughs, but because we easily talk ourselves out of it, we lose out on so much!)

At the end, this small thing I did had me asking myself new questions, and sometimes that’s enough to get the momentum rolling, and the ideas popping in an entirely new and unexpected direction. (That’s where the magic lives!)

If you’re new here, welcome to my heart-focused, woo-casual, shamelessly optimistic, fitness accountability bandwagon where we slow down and allow space in your day for the ‘real YOU’ to feel witnessed + worthy… not to mention vibrantly healthy!

This isn’t a “newsletter” filled with stale fitness and wellness advice, or trending fads that promise beach-ready bods in just two weeks…

… this is a love letter to the real YOU who, in your 40+ years of living, knows that to age fiercely means you can…

  1. Lift heavy things (like your expectations, your standards, and occasionally actual weights) and feel how it gets more satisfying with age.

  2. Deflate your old, farty narratives—they’re starting to smell like blue cheese

  3. Know that taking care of yourself is no longer “optional”

  4. Deprive yourself of negativity, not pizza

  5. Workout for the endorphins, not the scale

My purpose is to help you get to that point where you surprise yourself and say out loud with a voice of victory, I can’t believe I just did that!!!!! I can tell you from experience, it’s even better than binge-watching bad TV on a Sunday morning.

Ready to Do Something Different?

Didn’t realize you could create more space in your day for YOU? If you’re no longer available for the limiting thought that you’ve tried everything and nothing has worked when it comes to your never-ending desire to feel fit and strong in your body and mind, you’re ready for a shift. I can help show you how it’s all possible!

I'm ready to do something different!
