It's not as sinister as it sounds.
I wasn’t in denial either, I swear! The virus hit me a few days after I took a breathwork class—11 people in a closed room heavily breathing in and out for over an hour—it was destiny (or stupidity as I continued to lie next to a woman who came to class with Kleenex in hand. The moment she sneezed twice in my direction I knew I was in for something.)
Despite being mildly affected by the virus, I made a decision the moment I tested positive—I was going to keep this to myself (while adhering to the proper social distancing necessary for the week). The reason? Well, that’s today’s topic.
Sometimes mentally falling prey to the kindness of others who only want to help you get better with their sympathy, compassion, and soup is the very thing that keeps the virus alive within. It’s easy to like the feeling of others taking care of you, who are concerned about your well-being when it’s not something that ever happens—right moms?!
