She gave up trying to be the “perfect mom” and that's when she started to regain control of her life

She joined a co-ed volleyball team, signed up for an art class—there's no stopping this mama now!

“I think being able to take control of one tiny thing that I was doing for myself gave me the desire to do the things that I love again.”

Welcome to Mindful Mama Diaries ❤️, where we dive into the real stories of moms breaking the fitness mold and finding joy in movement. If you're new here, here’s a quick rundown of what to expect! (Hint: it involves moms taking back their time, shedding their grandiose cloaks of guilt, and mindfully taking control of their mental health.)

Today’s guest is the wonderful Deb Gardner, a lifelong friend and seasoned stay-at-home mom of 18 years. With one child heading off to college and another entering 10th grade, Deb’s world is shifting in big ways. She’s ready to reclaim her time, step out of the 'on-demand mom' role she’s known for so long, and rediscover what truly lights her up. Journaling and daily affirmations have been her guiding lights on this path.

It all started when she realized how overwhelming the teenage years had become, and the countless roles she was juggling. Deb knew it was time to shift her focus back to herself and let go of the quest to be 'the perfect mom.'

Interviewing moms to find out how they’re rediscovering themselves—and getting fit—without all the drama!
